Scholarship Program

Program Description

The purpose of the Scholarship Program is to encourage and support graduate studies related to the dairy industry and improve career opportunities in the Canadian dairy industry among aspiring students.

Scholarships will be awarded as follows:
  • maximum of $20,000 per year for up to two years for a full-time Master’s students
  • maximum of $30,000 per year for up to three years for a full-time Ph.D. students.
Both scholarships include $5,000 for the development of soft competencies including additional elements of study that benefit employability such as internships, presentations at industry conferences (national or international), training in product development, marketing, human resources, etc.

A budget of $1.5 M has been committed to the Scholarship Program. This program takes effect on April 1, 2018, for a term of 3 years and is subject to the availability of funds.

The University of Guelph and Novalait will each receive $500,000 and will administer the Scholarship Program within their respective province on behalf of the CDC. The remaining $500,000 will be made available to Canadian universities and research organizations outside Quebec and Ontario for individual scholarships through an application process administered by the CDC.

Only Canadian citizens and permanent residents applying through a pre-approved or eligible awarder may receive funding.

Applications must be submitted by July1, 2018, and meet all of the evaluation criteria. Eligible recipients must apply using the Scholarship Program Application Form at the end of the program guide.
