The Canadian Dairy Commission (CDC) is committed to promoting growth and innovation in the manufacture and use of dairy products and components. Our Dairy Marketing Program provides support to both dairy product manufacturers and food processors. It facilitates access to the technical support and expertise required to develop new and innovative dairy and finished food products to bring them to market. Our valued partnerships with food science centres, universities, and industry associations help to reinforce our commitment to the 3 I’s:
INFORMATION Knowledge is power. MILKingredients.ca is a comprehensive on-line information centre dedicated to dairy product manufacturers, distributors, and food processors. Currently in its fifth year of service to the industry, this award winning Web site is devoted to strengthening business relationships by offering valuable technical information and resource material to dairy and food product manufacturers. A valued resource centre for dairy and food product innovators!
INTERACTION At the Canadian Dairy Commission (CDC), we believe in building community through direct and personal contact. Our Marketing Agents regularly visit with companies across Canada to provide expert advice and guidance on programs and services that encourage innovation and help companies to compete in the marketplace.
We remain committed to our successful industry seminars series thanks to the ongoing support of several renowned Canadian food processing and development centres.
INNOVATION These programs have been created to foster growth and innovation in the manufacture and use of dairy products and components:
(1) The CDC Matching Investment Fund (MIF) provides non-repayable contributions to Canadian registered companies or Food Technology Centres for product development on a matching investment basis. The CDC has dedicated $2 million per year over a 3-year period to the MIF. Each project can receive up to $250,000. Projects that use milk protein concentrate or skim milk powder may qualify for higher levels of funding.
(2) The Domestic Dairy Product Innovation Support Program (DDPIP) was created in 1989 to provide a measure of flexibility to the National Milk Marketing Plan. The program is designed to assist dairy processors involved in the development of innovative dairy products to access the additional milk volume needed to bring their new products to market.
